Media Advisory – Uber Drivers Make History in B.C. Interior as Landmark Collective Agreement Expands
KELOWNA, B.C., Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- UFCW 1518 and UFCW Canada will hold a press event in Kelowna to mark the addition of Uber drivers in B.C.’s interior, including Kelowna, Kamloops, and Penticton to the union.
This victory brings more than 1000 drivers from the region under the world’s first of its kind collective agreement for Uber rideshare drivers, first negotiated by Uber drivers in Victoria last year.
UFCW 1518 President Patrick Johnson, Pablo Godoy Director for Emerging Sectors from UFCW Canada, and Uber drivers will speak about what this milestone means for Uber drivers in B.C.’s interior and the growing momentum for worker organizing in the platform economy.
